Amazing World of Sharks, The

With over 500 species, sharks live varied lives. Some sharks give birth to their young like mammals, others lay eggs, hiding them from other predators. They live in fresh water, deep water, the open ocean, and eat a variety of fish and plankton. Some sharks are nocturnal (meaning they only hunt at night), while other sharks eat at every opportunity. They sense fish?s distress from far away, and they?ll travel thousands of kilometers to breed at the same place their ancestors have bred for thousands of generations. Often called tyrants, predators, and killers, sharks have a bad reputation. And there is good reason for that, but they play an important role in keeping our waters safe and healthy.
